Rock Your Writing This August
Hello Creative Writer,
It's summer in the Northern Hemisphere and an opportunity to step up your writing practice while everyone else is slowing down.
Let’s make one thing very clear: you do not need more guilt, more overthinking, or more “one day” energy to keep you writing. You need momentum. And that’s exactly what August is here to give you.
The words may be patchy and inconsistent right now, but that doesn’t mean the writing is over. It means you’re at the point where structure matters — and where a little fire under the page can change everything.
News & August plans
You voted in the Facebook group, and I listened. The result is Rocking Your Writing: Opening Pages Summer Camp, a 2-week live bootcamp for writers who are ready to stop circling the page and start writing with purpose.
This isn’t a passive course you mean to come back to later. It’s a focused, guided experience with live sessions, writing momentum, and support that helps you get those opening pages moving now.
August is going to be about action. Opening pages, fresh starts, practical craft, and the energy that comes from writing alongside other people who are showing up too.
New Thursday Q& A in the Facebook Group
Each Thursday I will be going live in hte Facebook group to answer your questions and give you an update of what's coming up in the group. The first live was this week and you can find the recording in the group.
I will be downloading the video and putting them in the Private Free community, so that they are available forever.
Eventually, I hope to run the lives in the Private Community so that I can see your faces and interact properly.
Your August challenge
Here’s your simple task for this week: open the document, find the first line, and write three versions of it. Write and explore and be a Panster. One of those versions may hold the door open.
If your story has been circling in your mind, this is your sign to meet it halfway. Your permission to write it imperfectly.
Why this matters
Opening pages do a lot of heavy lifting. They set tone, signal voice, and help you decide whether you’re really in the story or just dabbling near it.
This camp is designed to help you move from hesitation to pages on the screen, with enough structure to keep you going and enough flexibility to meet you where you are.
What’s next
There's a new 5 day Promp Challenge beginning 3rd August 2026 in the Facebook and Private group fo r free. Set yourself a commitment to take part.
You can find the full Summer camp details, structure, and start date HERE. There’ll be plenty more on how it works and how to join in the community, but for now, know this: August is for writing, not waiting.
Reply and tell me what you’re writing right now, or what you want August to help you finally begin.
Warmly,
Heather
P.S. If the opening feels difficult, start with one sentence. That’s enough to begin.
